At FEFC, the primary roles of the Deacons are financial management, property management, and the caring and serving ministries (especially benevolence). The Constitution and Bylaws (revised 2/13/00) describe the duties of the Deacon Board in the following way:
• It shall be the duty of the Deacons to have administrative oversight of the finances of the Church, to prepare the annual budget in consultation with the Financial Secretary and the Treasurer, to provide an annual financial audit, and to keep the facilities and physical property of the Church in good repair.
• The Deacons shall have responsibility for administering the benevolence functions of the Church. They shall also oversee such service functions as shall be assigned to them by the Elder Board. All major actions of the Deacon Board are subject to review and approval by the Elder Board.
